Hello! Welcome to my favorite time of year!

Yes, friends, we have made it to the “BER" months: September, October, November and December! Good bye, sweltering heat; hello, crisp morning air and pumpkin-everything.

And welcome to all of you! Just like September is the beginning of the “BER” months, it is a time of other beginnings as well. The beginning of school, of autumn, of football and (if I’m really lucky, postseason baseball), and of all the big holidays. For me, it is also the beginning of a new year of life— my birthday is September 2.

What better time, then, to welcome you to my new website, with my first blog post? I hope you will join me here often; I can’t promise to always have cake, but I’ll always do my best to make you smile.

This is where I’ll chat about all things writing, reading, and living our best authentic lives. I want to talk with you about my writing process and the ups and downs of pursuing a traditional publishing career. As a voracious reader, I’ll share my favorite books (and hope you will do the same in the comments). And finally, I want us to have honest conversations about what it means to be a woman in this day and age— in my case a woman of size. We deserve to take up space, no matter what size we are, what color of skin we have, who we love, or what we believe. We just have to remind ourselves of that sometimes.

And maybe, if we are ALL lucky, I’ll sneak some baseball talk in there as well (Go Cubbies). But I promise to include lots of pictures of my dog Nola as a bonus.
